5) The Gentiles

For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who by their unrighteousness suppress the truth.  (verse 18)

Sin … it’s real

Remember and do not forget how you provoked the LORD your God to wrath in the wilderness. From the day you came out of the land of Egypt until you came to this place, you have been rebellious against the LORD. (Deut 9:7)

For what can be known about God is plain to them, because God has shown it to them.  (verse 19)

For his invisible attributes, namely, his eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly perceived, ever since the creation of the world, in the things that have been made. So they are without excuse.  (verse 20)

For although they knew God, they did not honour him as God or give thanks to him, but they became futile in their thinking, and their foolish hearts were darkened. Claiming to be wise, they became fools, and exchanged the glory of the immortal God for images resembling mortal man and birds and animals and creeping things.  (vs. 21-23)

Sin … its realities

Therefore God gave them up in the lusts of their hearts (v. 24)

God gave them up to dishonourable passions (v. 26)

God gave them up to a debased mind (v. 28)

There is nothing outside a person that by going into him can defile him, but the things that come out of a person are what defile him.”  (Mark 7:15)
