2) The Romans

Romans 1:1-15

For I am not ashamed of the gospel, for it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes, to the Jew first and also to the Greek. (verse 16)

For I long to see you, that I may impart to you some spiritual gift to strengthen you - that is, that we may be mutually encouraged by each other's faith, both yours and mine. (vs 11-12)

including you who are called to belong to Jesus Christ, To all those in Rome who are loved by God and called to be saints: Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ. First, I thank my God through Jesus Christ for all of you, because your faith is proclaimed in all the world.   (vs. 6-8)

Belong to Jesus Christ

including you who are called to belong to Jesus Christ (verse 6)

In him you also, when you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation, and believed in him, were sealed with the promised Holy Spirit (Eph 1:13)

“Saul, Saul, why are you persecuting me?”   (Ac 9:4)

Loved by God

To all those in Rome who are loved by God and called to be saints: (verse 7)

I in them and you in me, that they may become perfectly one, so that the world may know that you sent me and loved them even as you loved me. (Jn 18:23)

For one will scarcely die for a righteous person—though perhaps for a good person one would dare even to die— but God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us. (Romans 5:7-8)

I give them eternal life, and they will never perish, and no one will snatch them out of my hand. My Father, who has given them to me, is greater than all, and no one is able to snatch them out of the Father's hand. I and the Father are one.” (Jn 10:28-30

Proclaimed by others

First, I thank my God through Jesus Christ for all of you, because your faith is proclaimed in all the world. (verse 8)
