1 Peter 2:4-12
The Church is all of God’s gathered people who, together, make up the bride of Christ
Peter, an apostle of Jesus Christ, To those who are elect exiles of the Dispersion in Pontus, Galatia, Cappadocia, Asia, and Bithynia, 1 Peter 1:1
For “everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.” Romans 10:13
a great multitude that no one could number, from every nation, from all tribes and peoples and languages, standing before the throne and before the Lamb, clothed in white robes, with palm branches in their hands, Revelation 7:9
even as he chose us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and blameless before him. Ephesians 1:4
But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for his own ossession, that you may proclaim the excellencies of him who called you out of darkness into his marvellous light. 1 Peter 2:9
so that he might present the church to himself in splendour, without spot or wrinkle or any such thing, that she might be holy and without blemish. Ephesians 5:27
Called out at a cost
Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her Ephesians 5:25
Put on then, as God's chosen ones, holy and beloved, compassionate hearts, kindness, humility, meekness, and patience, bearing with one another and, if one has a complaint against another, forgiving each other; Colossians 3:12-13
Called out for a reason
To the church of God that is in Corinth, to those sanctified in Christ Jesus 1 Corinthians 1:2
together with all those who in every place call upon the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, both their Lord and ours: 1 Corinthians 1:2
Beloved, I urge you as sojourners and exiles to abstain from the passions of the flesh, which wage war against your soul. Keep your conduct among the Gentiles onourable, 1 Peter 2:11-12
but in your hearts honour Christ the Lord as holy, always being prepared to make a defence to anyone who asks you for a reason for the hope that is in you; yet do it with gentleness and respect 1 Peter 3:15
