Psalm 76:1-12
To the choirmaster: with stringed instruments. A Psalm of Asaph. A Song. Psalm 76:1
God is known
In Judah God is known; his name is great in Israel. Psalm 76:1
Long ago, at many times and in many ways, od spoke to our fathers by the prophets, but in these last days he has spoken to us by his Son, whom he appointed the heir of all things, through whom also he created the world. He is the radiance of the glory of God and the exact imprint of his nature, and he upholds the universe by the word of his power.Hebrews 1:1-3
His abode has been established in Salem, his dwelling place in Zion. Psalm 76:2
There he broke the flashing arrows, the shield, the sword, and the weapons of war. Psalm 76:3
God is …
Glorious are you, more majestic than the mountains full of prey. Psalm 76:4
Bless the LORD, O my soul! O LORD my God, you are very great! You are clothed with splendour and majesty, covering yourself with light as with a garment, stretching out the heavens like a tent. Psalm 104:1-2
The stouthearted were stripped of their spoil; they sank into sleep; all the men of war were unable to use their hands. At your rebuke, O God of Jacob, both rider and horse lay stunned. Psalm 76:5-6
But you, you are to be feared! Who can stand before you when once your anger is roused? From the heavens you uttered judgment; the earth feared and was still, when God arose to stablish judgment, to save all the humble of the earth. Psalm 76:7-9
God is honoured
Surely the wrath of man shall praise you; the remnant of wrath you will put on like a belt. Psalm 76:10
Make your vows to the LORD your God and perform them; let all around him bring gifts to him who is to be feared, who cuts off the spirit of princes, who is to be feared by the kings of the earth. Psalm 76:11-12
