8) Laodicea – Rev 3:14-21

To the Church at Laodicea write …

Those whom I love, I reprove and discipline, so be zealous and repent. (verse 19)

And when this letter has been read among you, have it also read in the church of the Laodiceans; and see that you also read the letter from Laodicea. (Colossians 4:16)

1. Introduction

‘The words of the Amen, the faithful and true witness, the beginning of God's creation. (verse 14)

He is the radiance of the glory of God and the exact imprint of his nature, and he upholds the universe by the word of his power. After making purification for sins, he sat down at the right hand of the Majesty on high (Hebrews 1:3)

He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of all creation. For by him all things were created (Col 1:15-16)

2. Content

I know your works: you are neither cold nor hot. Would that you were either cold or hot! So, because you are lukewarm, and neither hot nor cold, I will spit you out of my mouth. (verses 15-16)

For you say, I am rich, I have prospered, and I need nothing,  not realizing that you are wretched, pitiable, poor, blind, and naked.  (verse 17)

I counsel you to buy from me gold refined by fire, so that you may be rich, and white garments so that you may clothe yourself and the shame of your nakedness may not be seen, and salve to anoint your eyes, so that you may see. (verse 18)

“Come, everyone who thirsts, come to the waters; and he who has no money, come, buy and eat! Come, buy wine and milk without money and without price. (Isaiah 55:1)

Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and eat with him, and he with me. (verse 20)

Those whom I love, I reprove and discipline, so be zealous and repent. (verse 19)

3. Conclusion

The one who conquers, I will grant him to sit with me on my throne, as I also conquered and sat down with my Father on his throne.  (v. 21)
