1) Mystery

The people who walked in darkness have seen a great light; (Isaiah 9:2)

He will be great and will be called the Son of the Most High. And the Lord God will give to him the throne of his father David (Luke 1:32)

for he who is mighty has done great things for me, and holy is his name. (Luke 1:49)

And an angel of the Lord appeared to them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were filled with great fear. And the angel said to them, “Fear not, for behold, I bring you good news of great joy that will be for all the people. (Luke 2:9-10)

Great indeed, we confess, is the mystery of godliness: He was manifested in the flesh, vindicated by the Spirit, seen by angels, proclaimed among the nations, believed on in the world, taken up in glory. (1 Tim 3:16)

1. The mystery

Behold! I tell you a mystery. We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed, in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet. For the trumpet will sound, and the dead will be raised imperishable, and we shall be changed.  (1 Cor 15:51-52)

even as he chose us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and blameless before him. (Eph 1:4)

I will put enmity between you and the woman, and between your offspring and her offspring; he shall bruise your head, and you shall bruise his heel.” (Gen 3:15)

Now to him who is able to strengthen you according to my gospel and the preaching of Jesus Christ, according to the revelation of the mystery that was kept secret for long ages but has now been disclosed and through the prophetic writings has been made known to all nations, according to the command of the eternal God, to bring about the obedience of faith— to the only wise God be glory forevermore through Jesus Christ! Amen. (Romans 16:25-27)

2. Of godliness

Great indeed, we confess, is the mystery of godliness He was manifested in the flesh (1 Tim 3:16)

For you know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that though he was rich, yet for your sake he became poor, so that you by his poverty might become rich. (2 Cor 8:9)

Greater love has no one than this, that someone lay down his life for his friends. (Jn 15:13)
